Thanksgiving; A Lifestyle Or A Holiday?

Thank You is a simple phrase we often say to one another that can carry profound meaning if it comes from a sincere heart. Being thankful has the power to bring you joy, healing and all that is good. In fact, an attitude of gratitude can elevate you to a higher altitude.

I thank the Almighty for my grandmother who taught me to awake each morning with a heart of thankfulness, counting my blessings one by one. Today, I endeavor to live my life from this space and I can sense when my joy levels begin to lapse. Thankfully, with awareness I can instantly affect the condition of my heart just as quickly as it slips back to being and feeling alive again simply by pondering on what I am grateful for.

What am I thankful for, and to whom do I give thanks? I am thankful to my Creator, the Giver of life and all that is good for: life, health, peace of mind, family, friends, clients, cheerleaders, coach, mentors, acquaintances and you, the one reading this piece.

I am grateful to the Almighty for all the experiences and opportunities I have everyday. To serve and encourage you and those I meet along my life’s journey to pursue meaningful work that yields joy, flow and fulfillment.

I thank Jesus for the opportunity to learn and satiate the insatiable curiosity on all things people. Especially the fascination I get in exploring why we humans do what we do? You see, this is such an enigma to me… that while one may find sheer joy and fulfillment in helping another, others get a kick of joy in making stuff, while yet others are fulfilled when they engage in the discovery of the unimaginable, etc. The human quest for purpose amazes me.

Lastly, I am grateful for you. Thank you for gracing me with your time. For telling others you know of my work and for sharing your insight on this topic. You inspires me to soldier on. Thank you for being YOU, and for being a part of my life.

Back to my earlier question, thankfulness; a lifestyle or a holiday? Regardless of your answer, I would encourage you to pause for a moment and ponder what you are grateful for and to whom you are grateful right now. If you enjoy the feeling of joy and connectedness that this thought sparks, keep the practice, you will have you to thank!

So, what are you thankful for and to whom do you offer your thanks? Share at the comments below. Thank you!
